1.            Call to Order

 

                Mayor O’Leary called the regular meeting of the City Council to order at 7:00 PM on Monday, May 12, 2026.

 

                Mayor O’Leary thanked Acting Mayor Hovey for handling the council meetings over the past winter and City Forester Nayes for his work on the 2026 Arbor Day with planting trees and shrubs for the shoreline restoration project along 60th Street and the many residents that helped with this project.

 

                Mayor O’Leary presented Steve Bulach with a plaque and thanked Steve for his 13 years of dedicated service on the City Council.  Steve’s commitment, leadership, and dedication have made a lasting and meaningful impact on the City of Sunfish Lake and its residents.

 

2.            Roll Call

4.            Approval of Agenda

 

Mayor O’Leary asked if there were any additions or corrections to the agenda.   Mayor O’Leary requested to add to the agenda and discuss the email received by Ray and Jo LaCroix regarding the 60th Street shoreline restoration project which will be item #9d.

               

                Moved by Councilmember Nelson to adopt the agenda, as amended, seconded by Councilmember Hovey.  Motion carried (4-0).

 

5.            Consent Agenda

 

                Moved by Councilmember Hendrickson to approve the consent agenda as follows, seconded by Councilmember Hovey.   Motion carried (4-0).

 

a)       Approve regular  meeting minutes of April 14, 2026

b)      List of Bills

c)       Monthly Financial Statements

d)      Building Inspection Report

e)      City Forester Report

f)        Public Safety Report

g)       Engineer’s Report

h)      Planner’s Report

i)        Accept Resignation of Councilmember Bulach

                There were no Planning Commission items.

 

9.            New Business

 

a.       Snowplowing Policy:  Continued to a future meeting.

 

b.       Discuss City Council Vacancies

 

Moved by Mayor O’Leary to adopt Resolution No. 26-3, appointing Claire Noble to fill the vacant seat of Steve Bulach, seconded by Councilmember Hendrickson.  Motion carried (4-0)

 

c.       Musser Park Maintenance

 

Moved by Councilmember Hendrickson to approve quotes from Timberland Outdoor Services as presented this evening for the trail clearing and rough cut of the prairie field, seconded by Mayor O’Leary.  Motion carried (4-0).

 

d.       60th Street Restoration Project

 

Mayor O’Leary discussed the email received regarding the 60th Street shoreline restoration project and that some of the poles have broken and requested stronger metal poles.  The City Forester has taken care of this issue and ordered new poles.

                Mayor O’Leary adjourned the meeting at 7:24 p.m.
