Cougar Sitting

During the last ten days, an adult cougar or mountain lion has been seen in the Windy Hill neighborhood.  Both the West St. Paul Police Department and the DNR have been duly alerted.  DNR Metro Wildlife Manager Brian Leuth has stated that no one is in immediate danger, but offers the following recommendations:

·         When out exercising, walk in groups or pairs and carry a noisemaker with you; Do not go out alone at night;

·         Do not panic or run;

·         If you are able, call 911 if you see the cougar in your yard--they will provide the quickest response.

It is possible that the wild cat has moved on, but at our next City Council meeting on April 1st at St. Anne's Church, there will be an information segment towards the end of the meeting regarding the formation of a Wildlife Management Committee (regular business starts at 7 PM.)
