Metropolitan Council Blueprint 2030

A draft report has been received outlining projected expansion of urban services in the metro area through the year 2030. Focus is on housing, transportation, and wastewater treatment.
Fortunately for Sunfish Lake, there are no plans to implement any of these services in our community. The 1998 update of the SFL Comprehensive Plan specifically made no mention of plans for municipal sewers, and was approved by the Metropolitan Council. Credit goes to all of our homeowners who have their septic tanks pumped at least every two years. The Met Council staff was satisfied that our individual septic systems are properly managed when sent a copy of a spreadsheet which records the pumping logs provided by the septic tank pumpers every month.
The Metropolitan Council also recognizes that there is little or no available land for higher density development, and approves the single-family residential zoning code which SFL has in place. We do participate in the Livable Communities Act by allocating some of our tax dollars to the Dakota County HRA cluster model, but this in no way affects SFL directly.
The bottom line is that the Metropolitan Council accepts the fact that Sunfish Lake is a unique community and is best left alone.
