Argenta Trail Development
A real estate development company is seeking
to acquire approximately 800 acres of undeveloped land just south of I-494 on
either side of Argenta Trail in the cities of Inver Grove Heights and Eagan.
Preliminary plans are to use the land for a golf course, mixed density housing,
and light commercial development.
Representatives from Sunfish Lake and Mendota Heights met
with the developers to express great concern at the prospect for increased
traffic on Delaware Avenue. Both Sunfish Lake and Mendota Heights are adamantly
opposed to an interchange at I-494 and Argenta/Delaware. Fortunately for now,
the developers insisted that they had no plans for an interchange and have not
discussed this with MnDOT.
Whether this proposed development goes forward is an open
question. Realistically, the land in question, most of which is owned by the
Seeger family or the family trust, will probably be developed someway by
somebody someday. We cannot stop that, but will monitor the situation closely to
minimize any adverse impact on our community.
